Score 79+ in PTE to Improve the Chances of Getting a PR Visa
Australia can be an excellent option if you are thinking of permanent residency in another country. The country offers several visa sub-categories to applicants with specific eligibility requirements. You can become a permanent resident of Australia by applying and being granted a permanent visa. The major advantages of getting a Permanent Resident (PR) visa in Australia are:
- Having the freedom of living and working in any part of the country.
- Your children will be eligible to get free education up to a certain age.
- Your family members can also move in with you.
- You can enjoy unrestricted movement in and out of Australia in the first five years.
- You can also apply for a PR visa for your relatives.
- After spending a few years with PR status, you can also apply for citizenship.
Australia PR Score
The country facilitates the immigration of skilled workers through a point-based system that assesses the eligibility of applicants. The point system may sound confusing at first, but it is not as complicated as it seems. You have to score 65 or higher Australian PR score to be eligible to apply for a subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated visa) or a subclass 189 (Skilled Independent visa). The PR point calculator is based on several different factors, and each factor has a score assigned to it.
You can score PR points based on your age, education, work experience, language skills, etc. For example, if your age is between 25 to 32, you will earn the maximum PR point of 30. You will earn 20 points with a doctorate degree, and with a master’s or bachelor’s degree, you will earn 15 points.
Similarly, you will also get some points based on your proficiency test (IELTS, PTE Academic, etc.) score. A higher score in the PTE test cannot promise you a PR, but it can add good points to your list. By scoring 79 in each section of the PTE exam, you can fetch PR 20 points. Since the competition for an Australian PR visa is very high, it is better to aim for 20 points from the proficiency test.
